These instructions will guide you to add the most common types of email account to an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, etc) so you can properly receive and send emails on your iOS device.

Office 365 / Microsoft Exchange

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and look for Passwords & Accounts and open it
  3. Under the Accounts section tap Add Account
  4. Select the account type, for Office 365 it’s Exchange
  5. Enter your email address and set a description for it if you’d like
  6. You’ll likely be prompted to sign in to the account using Microsoft, tap Sign In to continue and enter your password to authenticate

You should now have the account fully configured, if you open up the Mail app you should see your emails as well as being able to send from that account.

IMAP / POP accounts

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and look for Passwords & Accounts and open it
  3. Under the Accounts section tap Add Account
  4. Select the account type, for IMAP or POP select Other at the bottom
  5. Tap Add Mail Account
  6. Enter your name, email address, password and set a description for it if you’d like
  7. Select the account type at the top - unless your email provider doesn’t allow IMAP accounts we always recommend configuring the account as IMAP
  8. Enter the host names, user names and passwords as necessary for both the incoming and outgoing mail server sections - you will have to refer to your email provider for what these fields should be if you don’t know. Tap Next in the top right when you’re done
  9. Finally you’ll be prompted if you want to synchronize and save notes on the account, it’s safe to leave the default settings and accept them

You should now have the account fully configured, if you open up the Mail app you should see your emails as well as being able to send from that account.
