Refreshing your cache / clearing your internet history

Sometimes when web servers switch addresses or change the way traffic is routed it can sometimes cause disruptions for some people trying to access that account. Sometimes you may need to refresh the cache in your internet browser and/or computer itself to resolve an issue. We have instructions below for most of the major browsers as well as instructions on clearing your DNS cache for your computer.

Google Chrome

  1. With Google Chrome open, click the 3 veritcal dots icon located in the top-right of the window, then click Settings
  2. In the settings window click the search bar along the top and type in “cache“. Then look for the Clear browsing data near the bottom.
  3. Adjust the drop-down menu for Time range to an approprate time frame, then click the Clear data button. In most cases it’s safe to leave the Browsing history item un-checked but if you continue to encounter issues you may wish to include it when clearing the data.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. With Mozilla Firefox open, click the three veritcal lines icon located in the top-right of the window, then click Options in the list
  2. In the preferences window that appears, click into the search window that displays “Find in Options” by default, then type in “cache” to narrow down the options and click the Clear Data… button found beside the Cookies and Site Data section
  3. Make sure the appropriate boxes are checked and click the Clear button
  4. Finally click the Clear Now button to confirm the clearing the data

Microsoft Edge

  1. With Microsoft Edge open, click the three horizontal dots icon then click the Settings item in the list
  2. Click the Privacy & security section, then click Choose what to clear
  3. Check the appropriate boxes then click the Clear button

Internet Explorer

  1. With Internet Explorer open, click the gear icon in the top-right of the window, then click Internet options near the bottom of the list
  2. In the Internet Options window, under the General tab click the Delete button found under the Browsing history section
  3. Make sure the appropriate boxes are checked, then click the Delete button to clear that data

Safari

  1. With Safari active click on Safari in the menu bar, then click Preferences…
  2. Click the Privacy tab then click Manage Website Data…
  3. Either locate the websites you want to clear data for (using the Search), select them and click Remove or use Remove All to clear all website data. Click Done afterwards

Windows DNS Cache

  1. On your keyboard press the Windows + R keys at the same time.
  2. This should display a Run dialog window, enter the following command in the Open: field then click OK to execute the action:
    ipconfig /flushdns
